Abbiejean Russell Care Center accepts admissions 7 days a week. A resident is generally admitted directly from a hospital under Medicare Part A, if he/she has been in an acute care hospital, as an in-patient, for 3 midnights. (For Medicare Part A, the 3-midnight stay is considered a “qualifying hospital stay”.)

In some cases, a resident can be admitted directly from home: A Medicare Beneficiary who has had a 3-midnight “hospital qualifying stay”, within the past 30-days, may not have to have another hospital qualifying stay; he/she can be admitted directly into a skilled nursing facility if his/her condition requires the skilled services of a licensed nurse or licensed therapist—physical, occupational, or speech therapist. If a potential nursing home resident does not have Medicare Part A benefits, but does meet the requirements to qualify for Florida Institutional Medicaid, or wishes to pay privately, he/she may be admitted directly from home. If a resident meets the requirements for Medicaid and/or Medicare, but needs assistance applying, our social services staff is happy to help.
